In one of the week's high profile match ups, the final score didn't match with the rankings. Third ranked Durango entered the contest versus eighth ranked Durango as the favorite but the Bulldogs defense didn't give an inch as Centennial took a 31-0 victory.
In an early defensive battle, the Bulldogs got on board first with a 47-yard field goal by Blake Frischknecht. They then closed the first quarter with a run by Lantz Worthington making the score 10-0.
From there it became a physical battle between the programs as the Trailblazers were hit heavily with cramping problems among its star players. The Bulldog defense were outstanding at not allowing any yards off the edge and made it very hard to gain an effective advantage up the middle. Without an effective passing game, the Trailblazers offense stalled the rest of the contest.
A Deontae Gilkey 29-yard interception return would make the score 24-0 shortly after with Worthington closing the scoring with an outstanding 55-yard burst off the right side to close the scoring on the night.
The one thing that was proven so far this year thought the valley is that ranking football teams based on talent and past performance isn't as much of a straight shot as in the past.
