Although Bonanza plays in the D1 division and Desert Pines hails from the D1A, there was no chance of the Bengals walking off the field with a victory as the fourth ranked Jaguars put their power on display.
Keying the victory was the play of star athlete Tim Hough on both sides of the ball as Hough hauled in two touchdown passes from Iquan Corsey in the contest and recovered the ball on a fumble to add a third score. A competitor on the field with a nose for big play, Hough had two other scores wiped off the board including a 72-yard interception return.
Moving to 4-0, the Jaguars hit the field on fire out of their no huddle offense as they scored 21-points in the first quarter sparked by the physical running of Eric Wilkes as well as Hough's two pass catching scores.
Mistakes piled up for Desert Pines in the second quarter as Bonanza closed the gap with Jayveon Taylor sprinting up the middle and quarterback Tyler Penkalski turning an errant snap into a score. The Bengals found themselves down 22-14 at the half moving within striking distance.
Moving to the third quarter, the Jaguars took over as Hough recovered a fumble for a touchdown off of an errant snap midway through the third quarter.
Corsey would then toss his third score to Malik Davis and a motivated Wilks would split the defense again to make the final score 40-14 to end the night.
