After a first half field position battle on the field that saw Canyon Spring and Desert Oasis fail to score points, the host Pioneers blew the game open in a 20-second period to run away with a victory.
After shutting down the Rattlers opening drive of the second half, standout junior running Zaviontay Stevenson back slipped into a sliver of space to race 48-yards off the right side of the line into the endzone for the first score of the game with 10:33 left in the third quarter to take a 7-0 lead.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Rattlers fumble would see Marck Cassino slip into the end zone on the recovery to push the score to 14-0 12-seconds later.
Another kickoff would see another fumble and recovery >b>Marcel Selmon as he slipped into the end zone as well in a rare occurrence as Canyon Springs would find themselves with a commanding 20-0 lead by the 10:13 mark of the third quarter.
Shell shocked, the Rattlers struggled to recover from there as they would find big plays but not enough consistency to get in the end zone. With hope fading for the Rattlers, Stevenson put the game away with a 34-yard scoring run to open the fourth quarter.
The Pioneers would add an Elio Gonzalez kick from 25-yards out 1 minute later as they took a 30-0 lead leaving little room for a comeback effort.
The Rattlers produced a solid drive capped by Blake Kutz but the battle was over as the Pioneers moved to 3-0 to start the season.
