At Cimarron, it was all Centennial as the Bulldog defense pitched a shutout versus the Spartans as they moved into second place in the Sunset Southwest behind Bishop Gorman.
The Bulldogs first drive stalled but on his first carry of the game, speedy Lantz Worthington took a pitch off the left side and raced 53 yards to the end zone to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 led.
From there, the rest of the first half turned into a defensive battle and the Spartans would threaten to score but would come up empty to remain down at the half.
A bad first series for the Spartans would be a boon for the Bulldogs as a big pass from Cole Thomson to Joseph Cisneros would quickly get the Bulldogs down to the 2-yard line. A sneak by Thomson would make the score 14-0 early in the third.
The Spartans would try to find a spark but a soft pass to the right would land in the hands of cornerback Gene Haley as he speed 61-yards to give the Bulldogs a commanding 20-0 lead with just under five minutes left in the third quarter.
The Spartans would threaten again after a series of defensive penalties against the Bulldogs pushed Cimarron deep into Centennial territory to close the third quarter but the break allowed the Bulldogs to wake up. A holding penalty and three tackle for loss later, the Bulldogs would have the ball back as the Spartans wouldn't provide another major threat to close the gap.
The Centennial defense set the tone in the contest with four interceptions in the contest and causing havoc in the backfield all game long as they moved to 4-3 overall on the season while Cimarron now falls to 5-2 overall but a conference record of 1-2 leaves them in a must win situation win they close the season versus Bonanza with powerful
