Nevada 2009-10 Football Top 10 (Regular Season) | NevadaPrepReport.com | last sorted on 11/23/2009

The Gaels have taken the Sunset while the Raiders have taken the North. Providing a great matchup for the first round of the state playoffs, Reed will be playing host this week. On the other side of the coin, Basic and Del Sol will battle to be the contender in the state championship game as both will battle it out one more time this season.

1Bishop GormanLas VegasNV13-02vs #9 Reedvs #7 Cimarron
Grabbing thier second Sunset Title of the decade, the Geals have proven they are in a class of their own this year as no one has come close to stopping them. A flat second half versus Cimarron, however, is a concern heading into Reno as the offensive line had numerous breakdown but the defensive line was able to step it up to save the day. Reed is a tough battle in the freezing north coming off of Thanksgiving weekend. The Gaels are still heavy favorites but they better not come in sleeping.
2LegacyLas VegasNV11-13vs End of Season 2nd Roundvs #7 Cimarron
The Longhorns knocked off the Spartans on the final play the last time and that is how they fell in the playoffs. An amazing run and undefeated season wasn't completed with a championship but the Longhorns are now established as a power and can thank a great senior class for that.
3Palo VerdeLas VegasNV10-24vs End of Season 2nd Round@ #1 Bishop Gorman
The Panthers had tremendous talent at the skill positions but the speed of the Gaels on the edge destroyed the consistency of the team's powerful offense bringing the season to a close. The Panthers set new heights with two 1000 yard rushers and senior Tyrone Blake topped the 900 yard rushing mark again. The Panthers enter the off-seaosn with a good nucleus to build around but will once again lose a special class as well as the loss of a great coach.
4Las VegasLas VegasNV8-25vs End of Season 1st Roundvs Foothill
Keyed by two sophomores, the Wildcats didn't have the experience and horses to overcome a smart game plan by the Falcons. Falling in the final minute with a furious attempt to rally from a late pick, the Wildcats are a program on the right track and is the pieces stay in place, the are a team that will be very dangerous next season.
5BasicHendersonNV11-16@ #6 Del Solvs Foothill
The Wolves showed they can handle the Falcons and are poised for another shot at Del Sol. This has been the division's premier battle the last two years and a trip to Dragon Land is never easy.
6Del SolLas VegasNV11-13vs #5 Basicvs Liberty
Del Sol erased the team that handed them their lone blemish and now look to erase the Sunrise Championship Game demons where they lost the last three years with the last two coming from miricle comebacks. Playing a team that has been the comeback kings, the Dragons have a tall task. The passing game proved it can carry the day last week for a team that has already proven they can grind it out as well.
7CimarronLas VegasNV10-39@ End of Season Regional Championship@ #1 Bishop Gorman
The Spartans fell to the Gaels after not being able to convert three redzone opportunities and thier stars on offense taking a beating but the defense showed guts in the second half limiting the Gaels to just 3 points. It was an amazing season and the team looks to see a great senior class move on as a new era ushers in.
8CarsonCarson CityNV9-3NRvs End of Season 2nd Roundvs Galena
The Senators amazing run has come to an end as they were tripped up by a Galena team they dominated in the regular season but a team that had plenty of playoff experience. They can still hang their heads high as they produced an amazing turn around and are hoping to see the programs fortunes change for good.
9ReedSparksNV11-2NRvs #1 Bishop Gormanvs Galena
The Raiders have come full fold winning the Northern Region and sets to host Bishop Gorman this week. Rated as having the two best tackles in the state, the team will have thier hands full versus a dominating Gael defensive line.
10DurangoLas VegasNV8-3NRvs End of Season 1st Round vs #7 Cimarron
A second shot at Cimarron saw the Trailblazer give up 100-yards to three different players despite a great effort on offense. The team can hang a hat on the season as they are in the same boat as Carson on getting a turn around season and many of the team's key player will be gearing up to return next season.
