NSD: A large number of Nevada players choose

Although many deserving Nevada athletes didn't get the opportunity to participate in the annual Nation Signing Day, 17 players out of Nevada found themselves signing with FBS schools with several more signing with FCS and D2 programs as well.

Here is a breakdown of who is going where:

UNLV
RB Niko Kapeli Liberty
WR Devonte Boyd Basic
UNLV looked in two locals that should be in position to contribute on offense in the near future.
Kapeli is a power back that is strong between the tackles and can make plays as a receiver out of the backfield with the ability to also contribute as a fullback.
In Boyd, the Rebels locked in a player that is capable of carrying the load as a primary target in the passing game once he gets more work in the weight room. Boyd can step in as an immediate contributor as a skilled pass catcher.

San Diego State
RB Donnel Pumphrey Canyon Springs
OG Lenicio Noble Phoenix JC (Cheyenne)
LB Randy Ricks Legacy
LB Tyler Morris Foothill
The Aztecs had the most success of any school with Las Vegas area prospects locking in four elite level athletes for the program.
In Pumphery, the Aztecs get a blazing back with great vision and all around run skills. With a great group of players returning, Pumphery will be well served spending a year bulking up and maturing but he is a potential game breaker.
Noble went the JC route after grabbing interest from LSU in high school. He is a power blocker that will be in for the spring and has great feet. He is expected to contribute immediately.
In Ricks and Morris, the Aztecs grabbed two versatile athletes that can play several positions on defense. They may be a few years from having a serious opportunity to compete for playing time but they both should have a big impact for the program down the road.

Colorado State
CB Justin Sweet Bishop Gorman
Sweet was one of the best players on the field for Bishop Gorman and should have every opportunity to develop into a starter for the Rams. He is a player with excellent physical skills and natural instinct.

Fresno State
LB Robert Stanley Bishop Gorman
Stanley was a late developer in high school playing tight end for two years before stepping in at linebacker as a senior. A physical player, he is a bit raw in overall skill as well experience but he has great long range potential for the Bulldogs.

BYU
LB Trajan Pili Centennial
LB Kaimana Nacua Liberty
The Cougars have found success in Nevada and will bring in two more prospects with this class.
In Pili, the Cougars grabbed a competitive athlete that has to make transition from defensive end to linebacker in college. Pili is also expected to eventually go on a mission but he is a player that brings impressive ability and may even grow to become an interior lineman in the future.
In Nacua, the Cougars have a very physical athlete that developed into a game changer defensively over the last two years. He should have an earlier impact in his career with All-American potential.

Arizona
QB Anu Solomon Bishop Gorman
A four-star quarterback prospect that was a four year starter in high school, Solomon is a very mature passer with great overall skill. He steps into a situation with a team entering the off-season with an open competition at quarterback and will have the opportunity to step in right away as a freshman.

Oregon
OL Elijah George Arbor View
A late target, George is a very athletic lineman with impressive raw skill. He has a long ways to go as far as development coming from an option based offense but he can be a star down the road projecting best as an offensive guard in the future.

Utah
RB Marcus Williams Durango
One of the most physically impressive backs in the region, Williams needs some fine tuning before he hits the field but he has the size and speed to be a game breaker. Williams is capable of being a complete back in college and should step into a major role for the Utes in the future.
With the Utes having looking to develop the position this off-season, Williams should have the opportunity to compete right away to get on the field.

Syracuse
LB Luke Arciniega Sierra College (Spanish Springs)
A big and instinctive linebacker, Arciniega was brought in to make an impact from day one for Syracuse. He has great size and physical skill that should see him hit the field early as a playmaker off the edge.

Duke
WR Ryan Smith Bishop Gorman
A speedster with game breaking quickness, Smith is an impressive guy in the slot that also may set some looks at corner as well. Smith will have to find his nitch for the improved Blue Devils as he makes develops in college.

Idaho
LB Broc Westlake Sierra College (Reed)
One of the most productive players in the state as a senior a year ago, Westlake didn't miss a beat moving on to play in college. A physical player in the middle, he fit's the mold of an inside backer and should give the Vandals a great option in the middle.

Navy
WR Jamir Tillman Bishop Gorman
A smart, physical and athletic wide out; Tillman choose the career opportunities created being joining the Naval Academy. A great pass catcher, he also stands out as a potential safety in college.

FCS

Weber State
OL Michael Cisneros Desert Pines
Weber State may have grabbed one of the best value prospects in the FCS with the late addition of Cisneros. A capable playmaker on both sides of the ball, he can have an early impact in college and he has outstanding long range potential.

UC Davis
DE Zak Pettit Truckee
The best pass rusher to take the field in the Silver State, Pettit flipped to UC Davis late after committing to NAU prior. An early impact player, Pettit is capable of dominating on the FCS level.

Sacramento State
S Robby Kendall Butte JC (North Valley)
A physical safety that is strong versus the run, Kendall found a good landing spot with Sac State.

Villanova
CB Lorenzo Fertitta Bishop Gorman
Extremely quick and speedy, Fertitta is a standout corner prospect that will compete well.

Dartmouth
DE Jake Smirk Bishop Gorman
A very strong defender, Smirk is a great athlete who should be a great competitor at Dartmouth in the Ivy League.

Duquesne
OG Mitchel Geib L.A. Pierce (Palo Verde)
LB Austin Whalen L.A. Pierce (Palo Verde)
Dual former Panthers, Whalen and Geib are competitive players on the field that should be in a battle for playing time right away.

Division 2

University of Mary
OLB Jordan Eggleston Arbor View
DB Jacob Parker Arbor View
Eggleston is a major prospect that slipped though the cracks landing with Mary but he is an elite athlete. Physical upside and speed off the edge should allow him to be a game breaker in college on the defensive side of the ball.
Parker is also a great addition though he will need more time to develop. He can play corner or safety in the future.

Chowan University
RB DaSean Martin Arizona Western (Bonanza)
One of the biggest slips, Martin is a tremendous athlete the can be a game breaker out of the backfield with great power and hands. He has elite talent and can be a major playmaker at the D2 level.

Dixie State
DT Chris Campbell Legacy
A run stuffing defensive tackle, Campbell is a great addition for a Dixie team looking to finally make major strides on the D2 level.

Colorado School of Mines
LB Vincent Agliolo Spanish Springs
LB Michael Kelso Boulder City
LB Joe Murray Legacy
CSM loaded up on local backers with Kelso leading the pack as a FBS capable athlete at the position.
With active player like Murray and Agliolo, CSM picked up a few very strong prospects that are excellent students.

NAIA

Waldorf College
S Xavier Taylor Rancho
Taylor had a wasted senior season at Rancho but he is an impressive athlete with good potential.
