Several football player made college commitments

Several Nevada football players made their college football choices in recent weeks as the 2014 recruiting class counts down to Signing Day.

Air Force

The Falcons locked in a commit from one of the elite wide receivers in the state with Las Vegas's Aaron Zanin-Banks making a verbal commit.
The Falcons have had success with receivers out of the valley in the past and Zanin-Banks brings great production and athletic skills to the table. After nearly leading the Wildcats to the state title game hauling in 72-passes for 1159-yards and 15-touchdowns, Zanin-Banks should blend in as a big play option for the Falcons in the years to come.

Dixie State
The closest D2 college program to the Las Vegas, Dixie State picked up a haul with the commitment of Liberty's quarterback Tyler Newman and offensive lineman Scott Hughes.
Newman reset Nevada's record books as a senior with 3991-yards passing totaling 4583-yards and 51-touchdowns.
Although lacking an ideal arm and size, Newman is an athlete with great intelligence showing the ability to process information quickly and make the right decision with the ball in his hand. He is ideal for running an offense and is great when on the move with the physical skills to play several positions.
Hughes is a feisty player on the interior that is capable of getting a good push as well as showing good quickness. Capable of playing any position on the interior, he is a kid that has good long term potential.

Colorado-Mesa

After locking in Bishop Gorman's Tryson Mook weeks ago, the Mavericks grabbed a second Nevada top 50 prospect in Bonanza's Jordan Knapp.
At 6-foot-5 280-pounds, Knapp was rated highly during the off-season and originally committed to Weber State prior to their coaching change. A pure offensive guard, Knapp is a mauler on the interior that has shown he can dominate the point of attack at times.
With focus in the weight room, Knapp has the ability to quickly develop into a starter and should be outstanding for the Mavericks on the field.
With the skill of Mook, the Mavericks secured two outstanding linemen that are capable of being key players in the future.

Southern Oregon

A tough schedule limited his numbers but NAIA's Southern Oregon is grabbing one of the area's best overall athletes with Centennial's Lantz Worthington set to join the fold.
Capable of lining up at wide receiver or running back, Worthington is a blazer that can get to the endzone in a hurry in space. Built with natural lower body strength, he is an explosive player that works hard and can develop into a go-to-guy in the future.
One of the highest scoring teams in the county, SOU does a great job of getting the most out of their offensive talent.

University of Mary

Desert Pines's Ryan Naki committed to the Maurauders during an official visit.
More of a linebacker in high school, Naki is capable of switching to safety in college with impressive instinct and tackling ability. A pure football player, Naki brings the physicality and tenacity to develop into a strong football player in the future.

Montana

Damonte Ranch linebacker/defensive end Evan Defer decided to continue his productive career with the Grizzlies.
Defer logged 20 sacks over the last two season's helping the Mustangs become a contender in the North. He nearly doubled his tackle total as a senior logging 104-stops as an impact defensive player.
He is expected to make a permanent shift to linebacker in college with great upside and the potential to lineup at any position.
