East LA NIKE Combine a Las Vegas Show

About 750 players attended the East LA College Nike Combine with about 60 Nevada athletes riding though heavy snow, fog and rain to make it to the East LA Combine to participate but on arrival, they put on a good show as 4 of the top 10 Sparq ratings were obtained by Nevada athletes with a host of very solid performances by other players as well. With Phase 1 Sports and the Shadow Ridge staff traveling a host of players, they helped to open the door for Nevada to see many Nevada athletes to get a stronger look this recruiting season.

The Student Sports Top 10 Sparq Ratings East LA Combine.
Del Sol RB/LB Tim Johnson is a guy I had rated as the #1 prospect in Nevada and he didn't disappoint. He currently hold the top Sparq rating in the nation so far measuring in at a solid 6'2 203. He clocked a 4.5 flat with a 37 vj and 27 reps on the 185 bench. He is a guy that looks the part and should have a monster year as a senior as he opened many eyes with his performance yesterday.
Sleeper DB Nathan Estimada (Sierra Vista) and Desert Pines RB Mike Ball round out the locals ranked among the top Sparq ratings. Estimada is a guy that has come out of nowhere to become a legit propect like Las Vegas DB Jashaad Gaines last season. At 6'2 185 with 4.57 speed and a 37 inch vj, he has huge upside.
Mike Ball will be a junior next season and at 5'11 194, he should be a hot prospect as a senior. His 4.62 40 and 36 inch vj are just a glimpse of how explosive he could be if he gets a few more holes next season. Expect a spike in production next season for Ball.
Among the seniors not listed among the top Sparq ratings, Cimarron LB/S Brandon Marshall had a very solid showing measuring 6'2 200 while cloking a 4.82 40, 4.4 shuttle and a solid 28 inch vj. He was disappointed in his times but he is a guy that has a lot of upside as well and is just truely developing as an athlete. He is poised for a great year for the Spartans.
Centennial DL/OL Stinson Brown is another big man that is a sleeper. At 6'2 280 had a solid 5.37 40, 26 vj and 16 reps on the bench. He just really started to understand the importance of the weight room and is starting to develop his body. Both of his parents have athletic background and for a kid that is still pretty raw, he looks like a guy that could surprise.
Rancho LB/DE Omari Stevens put ut the second most bench reps at the camp with 35 but felt he could improve on his overall numbers. Eldorado S Eddie Fountain is another senior that had a solid showing as well though a sore shoulder prevented him from lifting.
The Shadow Ridge group was also strong. They are led by 6'3 234 LB/DE Chris McMillian (Not Pictured) who had to sit out last season as a transfer from Cheyenne. He was disappointed in running a 4.86 40 but he had a solid performance and his coaches expect big things from him next season. He is a guy that will keep the Mustang defense among the cities best and should be very productive in the SR defense.
The rest of the Shadow Ridge players had very solid showing as they brought 4 great looking sophomores (more on that later) and a couple of under the radar seniors that will garner some looks.
There were many underclassmen in attendence as well with more to come on them later as well.
Special thanks to Mike Waters and the Phase One Sports team along with the Fountain Family for making this trip as well as the opportunity for the young men in attendence happen. Also to the Shadow Ridge staff which include Terry (Rebelations) from RebelNet.com.
The Top RB list will be released Monday.
