Bishop Gorman has been a draw for top athletes over the last 12 years and had been unbeatable over the prior decade before falling to Liberty the last state playoff. The team experienced a fluke loss in Arizona early in the season but the team is loaded with speed that keyed this year state championship.
Three of the top four 100m sprinter are the Gaels starting receivers it shows up on game day. The Gaels opened the game ripping off big plays on offense before star offensive lineman Jake Taylor plunged in to the end zone for the first official score of the contest.
The Gaels continued their big play production on the ensuing drive before the state's #3 returning sprinter Maliek Pabon hauled in a 15-yard score from Micah Alejado as the Gael closed the 1st quarter with a 14-0 lead.
The Gaels with quickly surge ahead when Alejado found #4 returning sprinter Jonathan Brady on a 61-yard catch and run. With linebacker Jamih Otis scoring on a scoop and score just over a minute later, the Gaels where well in control two minutes into the second quarter up 28-0.
With McQueen head coach ejected on a penalty, the Lancers had a tough time recovering as Cam Barfield rushed for another score and #1 sprinter Zachariah Branch added another score through the air from Alejado to give the Gaels a 42-0 halftime lead.
With the running clock in play, Gaels used the second half to honor their starters making way for the youth and other senior to get some action.
Gorman's senior quarterback Styles Stockham added a scoring run midway through the third quarter before McQueen's star runner Ashton Hayes added the Lancers only score of the contest.
Stockham would add the final score of the contest early in the fourth quarter of a strike to tight end Elijah Lofton to open the fourth quarter as the Gaels finished with a 56-7 victory
The Gaels should also take a hat off to the programs smothering defense that left little room to create positive yards the entire game.
