Liberty rolls to a 58-13 victory over the Silverado Skyhawks

One of the nation’s top ranked high school football teams, the Liberty Patriots jumped all over the Silverado Skyhawks as they racked up a 24 point first quarter.

With Alan Mwata opening the first minute of the game with an interception return for a touchdown, the Patriots set the pace quickly versus as the Skyhawks took the field without star running back Keiko Misipeka.

Back-to-back touchdown passes 15-seconds apart from Kenyon Oblad to Ethan Dedeaux (32-yards) and Darion Acohido (43-yards) generally put the game of of reach early before Dillion Fedor closed the quarter with a 32 yard field goal.

A sloppy second quarter allowed the Skyhawks to stay within striking distance as Christian Baltodano found Tyreese Newsome-Johnson on a 16-yard toss to make the score 6-24 but it wasn’t enough to put the Skyhawks back into the game.

Closing the final minutes of the quarter with a Kishon Pitts-35 yard run, the Patriots opened the second half with an 87-yard kick return by Acohido to move to a 6-38 lead that was insurmountable for a Skyhawk team lacking in offensive weapons.

Baltodano added an 11-yard pass to Devin Ross in the third quarter but that was the last gasp for the Skyhawks in the contest.

Like in the opening quarter, the Patriots closed the game with three more touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Oblad added another toss to Dedeaux. Backup defensive back Octavion Bell returning an interception for a touchdown and running back Danner Dunston got loose for the final score as the Patriots walked away with a 13-to-58 win at home.

Liberty junior quarterback Oblad finished with 271-yards passing with Acohido totaling 106 yards catching and Dedeaux racking up 113-in the contest. The Patriot defensive also picked up two more interceptions by junior cornerback Davion Ware while the defensive line spent all day in the Skyhawks backfield in the contest.
