Nevada postseason: Top 2017 Class WR Prospects

Cincinnati's Devin Gray, UNLV’s Devonte Boyd, Navy’s Jamir Tillman and CSM Riley Hoff set the tone among the top Nevada college football receivers. With an extremely talented group set to jump into the mix in 2017, here is a breakdown of the players to watch in January:

Tyjon Lindsey Bishop Gorman 5’9 175

5 rec 125 yds 25 avg 2 tds

Career: 84 rec 2126 yards 32 tds

Lindsey saw his senior season close early after a transfer to California followed by a return to Vegas before an injury kept him off the field but he has been one of the nation's top high school playmakers since emerging as a freshman at Poway (CA).

A darter with great speed, Lindsey is an electric openfield player that can create plays on his own. With sure hands, he is a player that can make plays in tight spaces and has the skills of a high volume pass catcher.

A Ohio State commit, Lindsey should be ready to return to the field with skill set to make his way to the field as a return specialist and slot player early in his college career.

Set to put up huge numbers as a senior, Grimes found himself filling in at quarterback for the Jaguars as a senior where he helped to guide the program to the 3A state title as a senior.

An outstanding athlete with great size, leaping skills and speed, Grimes has the tools to be an impacts player in college on the edge. He has skills after the catch to create plays and the quickness to create space in coverage.

A USC commit, Grimes fits their tradition of large framed receivers and will have every opportunity to develop into an impact player.

A dominate player in the openfield, Dedeaux is another electric playmaker that has been clutch in the openfield over the course of his high school career. He has the skill to get over the top of defenders with great agility and acceleration. He is a force as a return specialist as well and has the ability to break tackles consistently.

A national level sprinter and high jumper, Harris combined his physical talent into a huge senior season helping to guide his team to the regional title game.

A large framed receiver, Harris is the most physically gifted player in Nevada with hands that proved to be clutch over the course of the season. He has the ability to flip a short dunk into a big play with physicality as a runner and the ability to be elusive in space. A major deep threat as well, Harris can make plays on all levels offensively.

Harris is another high end talent but has work to do to be eligible at the FBS level. He is a player that can develop into an All-American at any level and should be a huge grab for any four year program with NLF potential.

Kentrell Petite Chaparral 6’0 170

72 rec 1218 yds 16.9 avg 15 tds (8 car 90 yds 0 tds)

A tough slot receiver prospect, Acohido proved to be high volume pass catcher for the Liberty Patriots with a knack for finding space in traffic. He has great run skill and does a great job securing the ball to get up field after the catch.

With great production in college, he has FCS options to consider.

R.J. McCarter Bonanza 6’1 170

41 rec 838 yds 20.4 avg 10 tds

Career: 78 rec 1278 yards 14 tds

McCarter has a knack for making plays downfield with good size and hands. He tracks the ball well once it’s in the air and plays aggressively to make sure he comes down with the ball. He is raw physically and as a route runner but has been a standout for the Bengals.

Robert Ferrel Reed 5’7 150

71 rec 1098 yds 15.5 avg 15 tds

Career: 127 rec 2104 yards 30 tds

Ferrel lacks size but he had outstanding production on the high school level for the Raiders. With great initial acceleration, he attacks defensive backs off the snap with great quickness and the skill to make subtle moves to get separation. With high confidence, he shows great hands in the slot.

Size leaves a question mark but Ferrel should garner D2 looks.
