Nevada postseason: Top 2017 QB Prospects

Featuring the top dual threat passer in the nation, the Nevada 2017 Class of quarterbacks had several very productive player that stood out on the football field led by Gorman superstar Tate Martell.

At least six of Nevada’s top passers will be moving on to play with four year programs with three headed to FBS programs. Here is a breakdown of the quarterbacks to watch leading into Signing Day:



Tate Martell Bishop Gorman 5’11 200

Career: 392/650 60% 7508 yards 113 tds 9 int (2283 yards 35 tds rushing)

Leading the Gaels to three straight National titles while not losing a game as a starter for the program, Martell produced an amazingly efficient senior season. He is a strong armed passer that can stretch the field and produce at every level as a passer. His elusiveness in the pocket and knack for creating big plays with his legs has made him a high school legend.

Expected to enroll at Ohio State in January, he is rated as the top dual threat passer in the country.


Jamaal Evans Centennial 6’2 205

Career: 273/477 57% 4222 yards 43 tds 8 int (1371 yards 32 tds rushing)

Evans STG vs Desert Pines

Committed to the Utah State Aggies, Evans didn’t have the defensive support this season but he led the Bulldog offense to a productive season producing 34.1 points per game.

An outstanding athlete, Evans showed great toughness as a senior playing through contact to lead his team in rushing. With improved accuracy, he also put his arm on display keeping his team in contention with good ball placement and the threat of the long ball. He has the ability to play through contact and has the long range speed to create big plays with his feet.

He will join the Aggies as an athlete.


Marckell Grayson Desert Pines 6’1 190

Grayson STG vs Centennial

A UNLV commit, Grayson only played a single game as a senior before he was lost for the season.

Overall, he is a great athlete that throws a great ball and has the skill to create big plays in space. He has great awareness on the field and has impressive toughness. He is expected to join UNLV as an athlete with the skill to play several positions for the program in the future.


Jon Jund Spring Creek 6’1 195

201/297 67% 3315 yards 36 tds 7 int (303 yds 12 td rushing)

Career: 360/523 68% 5215 yards 54 tds 12 int (427 yards 16 tds)

Jund HUDL Highlights

A two year starter, Jund had a strong first season as a starter before ripping it up as a senior to lead Spring Creek to the 3A Nevada Championship game.

Although he lacks an explosive arm, he is an accurate passer and game manager that shows great ball placement on his passes. He does a great job buying time with his feet showing the ability to throw on the run with accuracy.

Likely a D2 or NAIA prospect, Jund put up the top passing number of any senior quarterback prospect this season.


Tommy Cefalu South Tahoe 6’3 190

Cefalu Hudl Highlights

Emerging as a two year starter, Cefalu guided his team to its first winning season in 14 years and its first 3A Nevada Playoff berth.

A traditional sized passer, Cefalu is a player that gets great velocity on his the football with the ability to make throws in tight windows. He displays great feet and the ability to set up quickly with great mechanics as a passer. An accurate passer, he has the ability to anticipate and get the ball out of his hands quickly.

A player that can develop at any level with high upside as a passer.


Hayden Bollinger Arbor View 6’3 215

86/164 52% 1310 yds 22 tds 1 int (67 yds 6 tds rushing)

Bollinger HUDL Highlights

Playing in an option based offense, Bollinger turned in an efficient senior season at quarterback staying turnover free until a playoff loss to Bishop Gorman.

A large framed passer, Bollinger is a good athlete that can stand in versus the rush to make plays downfield. He is a good game manager that shows good ball placement and the ability to drop the ball into soft spots in coverage. With good arm talent, he has the ability to drive the ball down field with soft touch underneath.

With offer at the D2 level, Bollinger is a player that can be a standout in college as he transitions to a more tradition offense.


Korbin Marcum Spanish Springs 6’4 185

Marcum HUDL vs McQueen

An athletic passer with good overall skills, Marcum has a very strong senior season for the Cougars putting up good number while keeping the program in contention.

He is solid passer with smooth athletic skills and the ability to throw a good ball under pressure. He has good size and the ability to get good velocity on the football when he has time to set up in the pocket.

Marcum can develop into a very good quarterback with time to mature as a passer. He produced in his two years as a starter with a great frame at the position.
