Nevada's 2018 Top Uncommitted Offensive Skill Prospects

With recruiting season in full swing, 17 Nevadans have made commitments with 16 to FBS college football programs entering the first week of December. By far the deepest class of athletes to be produced by the state, the depth continues with several players that could see FBS and FCS programs offer between the two upcoming Signing days

Here a breakdown of the top uncommitted offensive skill players to watch in the coming months:

252/437 57% 2858 yards 33 tds 15 int (70 yds 4 tds rushing)

A walk on with UNLV out of Green Valley High School, Lopez earned second team WSFL at Mesa leading the program to a bowl game. A highly competitive and aggressive as a passer with a strong arm with good overall skills. He has the ability to develop into a starter at whichever programs that lands him.

Pyle spent his first two years as walkon at Nevada before transferring to Golden West for this season. A former Churchill County passer, he earned first team All-Conference honors leading an offense that averaged 419 yards per game this season.

Pyle is an athlete with speed that shifted to receiver while at Nevada. He has the ability to put zip on his passes with great ball placement and that ability to drive the football on short to intermediate passes. His ability to make plays in space makes him a dual threat that has been well coached and capable of competing to make an immediate impact.

High School

An efficient passer, Emerson is a mobile player that spreads the field as a great game manager. He shows great ball placement and the ability to find secondary targets. A great leader with the ability to to make plays with his legs and create in the clutch.

176/327 53% 2248 yards 22 tds 13 int (60 yards 1 td rushing)

After missing his junior year to injury, Barilla emerged standout that does a great job distributing the ball and making quick decision. With good awareness, he can make plays under pressure and shows confidence in the pocket. He has a solid arm throwing a great ball and he can make plays downfield.

A one year starter out of rural Spring Creek, Ledford had a great showing in the playoffs as passer with a great frame and a strong arm. He has the ability to throw the deep ball and shows the anticipation to hit his targets in stride. He has to improve his overall consistency and is still a bit raw but he has physical upside.

A breakout senior, Washington showcased outstanding skill as an open field runner as a senior. With outstanding feet, he is a elusive with great patience and balance as a runner that plays with great pad level. He has the outstanding acceleration getting into the whole quickly with great instincts. Washington shows the development to be an instant impact player in college.

A four year starter with back-to-back 1200-yards seasons. Despite playing behind a struggling line, he showcased the burst to produce big plays averaging over 152 yards rushing per game with great balance and quickness.

With outstanding quickness and skill as a runner as well a a receiver, Hicks has been an impact player all four years of varsity. He is one of the top sprinters in the state with outstanding vision as a runner and excellent hands as a pass catcher.

With 3800-yards and 42-touchdowns rushing over the last two seasons, Carter is a high effort runner with good burst and patience out of the backfield. A high volume ball carrier, he has the ability to break tackles and gain yards in chunks.

Hailing from Carson City, Carter is off the beaten path but his production should draw options.

A contender for the sprint title this track season, Thomas can fly in the openfield with good toughness as a runner. Coming from an option offense, he has to develop his skills as a traditional back but has the ability to develop as a pass catcher or defensive back as well.

A senior standout, Ward showcased impressive speed and burst ripping off big runs. He also has the ability to make plays as a pass catcher with great quickness in space.

Junior College

60 rec 960 yards 16.0 avg 14 tds (KR 38.0 avg 2 tds/PR 22.4 avg 1 tds)

A Reno native and former McQueen Lancer, Aiyuk made an immediate impact at the junior college level emerging as one of the elite pass catchers in Northern California. A speedster, he’s a deep ball threat with a nose for the end zone also showcasing skill as an elite return specialist. With great balance and strength, he is a major threat after the catch that should make a mark quickly in college.

High School

52 rec 955 yards 18.4 avg 16 tds (41 tackles)

A blazer out of Reno with good size on the edge, Jacobs is playmaker that made it to the end zone in all but one game this season helping his team to a 11-1 record. He had the speed to be a consistent deep threat with sub 4.5 speed in the 40 and the run skill to make plays after the catch. An instant impact caliber player, Jacobs also is a standout defensive player in the secondary as well.

Originally an Arizona State commit, Nailor is a playmaker in space. With soft hands and acceleration he can make plays after the catch. Nailor also has great feet with the skills as a route runner to create space. He brings good physical upside and the ability to develop in the slot or the edge.

A large pass pass catcher with great speed and athleticism, Tillman became a playmaker this season for the Gaels with the ability to high point the football consistently. He is a long ball threat with good feet and impressive physical strength with the ability to haul in the ball in traffic.

63 rec 1085 yards 17.2 avg 13 tds (389 yards 3 tds rushing)

Setting the 3A record with 1736-yards and 22-touchdowns as a junior, Larsen with very good speed and outstanding hands racking up 149-catches in the last two seasons. He has huge room for physical development playing at a rural program. He is a skilled player that is known for his competitiveness that should transition well into college.

With San Diego State bound Elijah Kothe missing much of the season, Kincaid emerged as a go-to-guy with a great catch radius and good speed. He has the ability to gain separation with good feet, acceleration and awareness. Position versatile, he has the ability to also transition to tight end in the future with a great frame.

An athlete, Powell is another large frame pass catcher with plenty of ability and impressive skill after the catch. He has to continue to improve his concentration and overall strength but brings high upside.

Junior College

14 rec 281 yards 20.0 avg 4 tds

A former Palo Verde star, Bruner emerged as a playmaking tight end in two season at the junior college level. He had the speed to make plays down the seam with great toughness and strong hands. A strong blocker as well, he should enter the fray right away at his next destination.

High School

26 rec 401 yards 15.4 avg 4 tds

Large framed with great concentration as a pass catcher and good blocking skills, Crosby is another standout tight end with great physical upside. He has the ability to make plays downfield and should develop into a red zone threat in college.

A good blocker on the edge with impressive athleticism, Jones stood out during the combine season with good speed. He has the ability to be a playmaker as a halfback or tight end.

A running back, wide receiver and safety in high school, Stubbs is a football player with great hands and skills as a player. He has a nose for the big play on offense with good overall toughness. He projects as a wide receiver but could develop as a safety or running back in the future.

A speedy player who returns as one of the top sprinters in Nevada, Collins can fly on the field with great acceleration and agility. He is a small framed player but has skill as a pass catcher, cornerback and return specialist.

A physical player out of rural Mesquite with great toughness and skill, Perkins proved to be high productive as a senior. He has good skill with the ball and shows good discipline in play execution with great hands as a pass catcher. Perkins is also a productive defender who can transition to strong safety.

Primarily a quarterback on the high school level, Burton is speedy clocking a 4.61 40 in the off-season. He is extremely elusive with the ability to create big plays with his feet. He has the ability to develop as a running back, receiver or corner in the future.
