UNLV grabbed their first local skill player of the Tony Sanchez era after logging a commitment from Desert Pines quarterback/athlete Marckell Grayson.

Within striking range of resetting the 1A career passing yards and touchdowns passing record, Grayson has amassed 4498-total yards and 59 touchdowns as a two year starter for the Jaguars. With a 21-3 record as a starter, Grayson is a high character player with great leadership and confidence on the football field.

As a passer, he is a player that has great touch, he shows the ability to adjust his velocity to pick opposing defenses apart. He is accurate when going downfield along with the ability to extend plays with his feet. Showing a strong arm, he has impressive throwing mechanics and the ability to reset his feet quickly to make plays under pressure. A passer first, he is patient in the pocket and gives his receivers time to work to get open but he also has speed to get to the endzone when he needs to make plays with his feet.

With UNLV bringing in Armani Rogers and junior college transfer Johnny Stanton in for the 2016 class, UNLV has a deep enough roster of passing options to leave Grayson the time to develop as a college passer. He brings the passing skills and intangibles to develop into a high quality starter in college with the athletic skill to also make an impact as a specialist options as he awaits his turn.
