Desert Pines Jaguars DE Lopez commits to WSU

The Washington State Cougars logged a commitment from one of the best high pass rushers in the history of Nevada high school football.

A four year starter for Desert Pines, Gabriel Lopez hasn’t received the same fanfare as some of his fellow teammates but has been the biggest key to the rise of the Jaguars as a 4A force in the valley. Relentless off the edge, he is as efficient as they come with an outstanding feel for leverage and a great burst off the snap.

Currently credited with 37 tackles and 15 sacks on the season, Lopez is Nevada’s all time sack leader with 45 drops of the quarterback with a Jaguar team still in the quest for the Nevada State Title.

Also holding nine other offers including Minnesota, Fresno State, UNLV, Hawaii and Utah State; Lopez can be a key addition for a Cougar team that will need new athletes to replace a senior heavy defensive line.
