Nevada 2018 Uncommitted Linemen Prospects to Watch

Nevada has produced a flow of linemen on both sides of the ball to the NFL in recent years. This college football season has seen offensive linemen Tyrell Crosby (Oregon/Green Valley) and Will Hernandez (UTEP/Chaparral) both earn All-American honors to continue the trend.

Six Nevada linemen have made college commitments with several more to watch in this class developing towards the future.

Here is a look at the uncommitted players to follow in the 2018 class:

Junior College Prospects

A former Reno HS star, Barraza is a powerful player with efficient feet and shows great hand placement. He earned All-Nor Cal honors this season as an interior lineman with great all-around skill as a blocker.

38 tackles 12 tfl 7 sacks

Ultra-active, Blakely is extremely quick on the interior with great speed and burst on the interior. He followed a dominant high school career by making an immediate impact on the junior college level with that ability to line up in several position on defense including linebacker.

An more mature player at the junior college level, Asi developed into a well rounded defensive player on the edge with good athleticism showing the ability get pressure on the pass.

High School Defensive Line Prospects

A collapse the pocket stye bull rusher on the front line, Carmena is a playmaker behind the line of scrimmage with great power and very good speed. A prototype player on the defensive line that also shows the skill to be outstanding on the offensive side of the ball as well.

76 tackles 4 sacks

Another massive framed defensive lineman with great overall athleticism, Tuavao blossomed as a senior into a dominant run stuffer with the quickness to create pressure on the interior versus the pass.

51 tackles 10.5 sacks

Finishing #2 in sacks in Southern Nevada’s large division, Brewington is an extremely active player on the defensive line with a high motor and great quickness. With good straight line speed, he has the ability to close on the ball with with room to add bulk to his frame projecting at end or tackle in the future.

29 tackles 1 sack

Combining with Nevada bound Crishaun Lappin, Brown proved to be a quick and active nose guard capable of tying up blockers at the line of scrimmage. With good speed, he is also an effective player in pursuit closing on the ball with haste.

41 tackles 3 sacks

Fundamentally sound at the point of attack with strong hands, Lopez is a play to the whistle style lineman that makes plays with high effort and hustle on the line of scrimmage.

49 tackles 4 sacks

Ultra-athletic with elite speed and quickness off the edge with an outstanding frame. Wade is raw but bring huge upside as a one of the top defensive end prospects in the nation.

56 tackles 6 sacks

With good speed and impressive strength, Elefante had a very productive senior year off the edge with very good defensive instincts. Capable of also shifting to linebacker in the future, Elefante has potential as an edge rusher.

39 tackles 2 sacks (13 rec 174 yards 13.4 avg 2 tds)

A large framed athlete, Oliphant is a long range prospects on either side of the ball with good athletic skill and high effort on the field. He has the room to bulk up to shift inside to defensive tackle or remain on the edge on defense.

High School Offensive Line Prospects

Holding several FCS offers, Shulte is an excellent pure athlete on the line with a great frame and very high upside. He has the skill to develop into an elite tackle on the edge but missed most of 2017.

Powerful with explosion off the snap, Phantharangsy is a great run blocker that shows great hips and the ability to gain leverage consistently. Also showing skill as a pass blocker, he has the ability to develop in a future standout in college.

Well proportioned with a strong punch, Castillo is a strong pass blocker that has good lateral quickness showing great balance when engaged. He brings upside on the edge as an offensive tackle that could also slide inside at guard.

Athletic and highly aggressive off the snap, Rivera is an excellent run blacker that has the ability to pick up blocks on the second level and the versatility to play any position along the offensive line. He brings a high motor and shows the ability to dominate opposing linemen with great leverage.

Massive with extreme bulk, Smith is a player that has to show he can maintain a great playing weight but he brings great strength and is lighter on his feet than expected for his size. He is a wall as a pass blocker and very physical when engaged as a run blocker. With a college level conditioning and weight program, he has the ability to develop.
