Nevada 2020 recruiting: Running Back Prospects to Watch

Last season Nevada produced a great group of backs that moved on to four year schools. The 2020 class has more to prove on the field with the next two classes featuring a great group of athletes overall.

A one-cut-and-go style power back, Vaughn is Nevada’s leading returning rusher. With great feet and power, he is a tough player that shows a knack for finding space and powering for extra yardage. He has good speed and is a well built player that should continue to garner looks.

A smooth downhill runner with great feet, Norwood is a productive runner that does a great job reading blocks to pick up consistent yards. He has impressive acceleration and brings a high level of consistency out of the backfield with great-fight snap-for-snap.

Another one-cut-and-go style back, Smith battle through a tough local schedule totaling 934-yards as a junior. He showcased impressive speed at the Rival Adizero Camp this off-season with a 4.69 40 and is a well built player out of the backfield with very good hands.

The Gaels leading returning running back, Ragsdale will be looking for a big season as a junior. A large back, he is tough in traffic and has the ability to break off long runs. He is a tough runner in short yardage situation with good feet.


Underclassmen to Watch

A physical athlete on the field, Fiaseu is a powerful runner with great acceleration and aggression as a running back. He is a very well built player a that is tough to tackle and does a great job running behind his pads.

Fiaseu has defensive potential but his 1360 yards and 13 touchdowns over the last two season should see him draw more attention as a running back over the next two seasons.

A tank on the field, Madison is another power back that will be looking to emerge as a junior after a great sophomore debut. He is another great runner behind his pads that has great balance and a well built lower body, Madison will remain a player to watch that should emerge as a rushing title challenger.

Hailing from a family of speedsters, Thomas produced a strong sophomore ripping off long runs and showing great feet out of the backfield. With a developing frame, he has great physical upside and showcases great natural skill as a runner.

Also a defensive back on defense, he should follow his three older brothers to the four year level as a college football athlete.

Blake is a young back that does everything well with great hands, vision and burst as a running back. A dangerous pass catcher in open space and threat in the return game, he is a player to watch as he takes on a heavier role as a junior.


Other 2020 Prospects to Watch    

A speedster that can change gears in space, Worthen is a big play threat with the football that can also project as a receiver or corner in the future. Showcasing a nose for the end zone, he has the chance to be an MVP candidate as a senior.

A tough, attack the hole type of back with great feet and effort, Delano is one of the state’s top three returning rushers that has outstanding production. Bringing value as a safety prospect as well, Delano should easily produce back-to-back 1000 yard rushing seasons.

A transfer from Hawaii, Palpallatoc is a downhill runner that attacks the hole aggressively with good vision and balance. He is poised for a very productive senior season and should be a player to watch this season.

A smooth glider out of the backfield, Mitchell is set to be the Aggies top back as a senior. He does a good job navigating traffic to produce big plays and brings good size out of the backfield. He also has the ability to develop as a defensive back.

A tough runner that gives great effort down for down, Hawthorne is a productive player that should draw NAIA looks as a senior.
