1st Team All-State
QB Jake Radford Battle Mountain 6'3 180
Radford was a force all season at Battle Mountain with his numbers reading 110-215 2410 yards 31 tds 10 ints with 6 tds rushing. For his career he went 215-425 4194 yards 54 tds and 16 ints. Using his strong arm and field savvy he led Battle Mountain to a playoff berth and a 9-2 record as one of Northern Nevada's top QBs ever despite playing on the 2 A level.
RB Jamal Lomax Las Vegas 5'6 180
After backing up Eric Jordan for the last two years Jamal Lomax exploded as a senior rushing with 304 carries 2189 yards 31 tds. Despite being small in stature he is big on heart and was the hardest runners in the state to bring down even when teams would get a hand on him. With him as the lead back Las Vegas finally got another State title in a feel good story for an unselfish kid who finally got a chance to shine as a senior.
RB James Edwards Spring Creek 6'0 200
James Edwards finished his career as Nevada's all-time leading rusher with another 2000 yard season as he finished with 311 carries 2266 yds 31 tds. With 7545 career yards and 85 touchdown, he set a standard that will be hard to match with his rugged rushing style and determination that made Spring Creek a power house on the 3A level during his career. He is a player that will be missed on the high school level and another character guy.
WR Tyson Poots Coronado 6'2 200
Tyson Poots in a word is an athlete. He really put it together as a senior as a true game breaker that couldn't be game planned. Poots ripped apart opponent's coverages for 68 receptions 1304 yards 8 tds. The 68 receptions and 1304 yards are state records and amazing in are really amazing in just 10 games. As a two way player he gave opponents fits on both side of the ball earning great respect as well as a linebacker.
WR Jarrid Holland Battle Mountain 6'0 190 (Jr)
For every great QB there is a go to WR and Jarrid Holland fits the bill. Holland averaged over 27 yards a reception this season taking in 40 balls for 1092 yds 16 tds. Though he didn't do it on the 4A level, number like that deserve respect which was earned by the junior wide out.
TE Stevenson Sylvester Valley 6'2 195
With over 400 yards receiving and 6 tds, Sylvester is the second straight Valley TE to put up huge number as a go to guy for the rebuilt Vikings. Sylvester proved to be clutch on both sides of the ball but he was a true impact guy on offense using his soft hands and speed to cause opponents fits.
OL Kevin Kolman Green Valley 6'5 260
Kolman is an underrated lineman tenacious in the trenches. He combined quick feet and powerful lower body to pave the way for the Gator's surprisingly strong ground game.
OL Derek Kosub Hug 6'3 280
There is no question of Kosub's ability after watching him power Hug to it's first ever Northern Conference title as well as a state championship berth. With his powerful legs and quickness, Kosub was the key to the Hug ground game that was even more apparent in the state title game that they lost to Las Vegas.
OL Malakai Niko Hug 6'1 235
Though not as gifted, Niko is another key lineman and one of the states best. Niko was a compliment to Kosub that could have been the key lineman for any team in the state and played with a tremendous motor and heart all season long.
OL Gerald Crisp Centennial 6'2 290
Crisp is another unsung star but without him the explosive Centennial offense would have never gotten off the ground. He brings a little extra to the table as a powerful blocker that is able the carry a lead role as a fluent blocker as well as a disruptive force on defense.
OL Eric Walther Carson 6'2 230
Walther proved to be one of the north's best lineman and a force at center for Carson the last few years as a team leader despite it's struggle thas season.
Defensive MVP: Xavier Cleveland Las Vegas
Other Honors: Southern Conference MVP Nevada Prep Report Sunrise Defensive MVP by Nevada Prep Report and the Southern Nevada Coaches, Sunrise Defensive MVP 2004
DL Xavier Cleveland Las Vegas 6'0 260
Blessed with amazing quickness and power, Cleveland proved to be the most unstoppable player in Nevada while leading the state champion Wildcat's on the defensive side of the ball. He also led the state in sacks with 15 and played in the opponents backfield like he lived there. Though a little undersized, Cleveland is another player to watch in the future.
DL Jersey Siewerski Reed 6'3 290 (UCLA Commit)
Jersey Siewerski was the Northern Conference lineman of the year and one of many great defensive players from Nevada. He is a tone setter on the defensive side of the ball and his battles with Kosub were said to be classic. Siewerski is a guy on top that will continue to shine at UCLA as a Bruin commit.
DL Derek Kosub Hug 6'3 280
Kosub didn't attend a NIKE camp last season which has allowed him to stay under the radar on the recruiting front but there is no argument about who the state's second biggest impact lineman was as the Northern Defensive MVP came up huge for Hug and was a force on the defensive front. He combined his power and instincts into an amazing season taking Hug to a state title berth before injuries helped to keep he and Hug from completing a dream season.
DL Mike Smith Palo Verde 6'6 230 (Nebraska Commit)
Mike Smith was the catalyst for the powerful Panther defense that nearly saw them head back to another state title game. Smith was a force on defense despite constant double teaming. His long arms and array of moves made him tough to stop for opposing linemen.
LB Ronald Paulo Western 6'2 220
Watching Paulo play was nothing short of amazing as he almost single handedly led the Warriors to a division title racking up tackle after tackle. With his sideline to sideline speed and ability to bring the load, his 150 tackle were among the best ever in the history of the Warrior program.
LB Josh Pritchard McQueen 5'11 205
The Lancers came up short of the state playoffs but Pritchard continued to be a force on both sides of the ball as a team leader and instinctive tackler. Always among the state best on defense, Pritchard is a guy that makes it happen on the field.
LB Ben Jacobs Silverado 6'3 230
Ben Jacobs took a share of the Sunrise Defensive MVP and is one of the most gifted players and a state that was pretty loaded this season. He lived up to his preseason hype and was a major impact player for the Skyhawks on both sides of the ball with very good instincts.
DB Jashaad Gaines Las Vegas 6'1 200 (Notre Dame Commit)
As solid as they come, Gaines is a silent assassin in the backfield always finding himself in the right position to prevent or make the play. Though not a flashy player, he makes his presence known every play and never misses an assignment.
DB Quinton Carter Cheyenne 6'0 180 (Oklahoma Commit)
Carter is a more flashy player as he played a slash role on offense all season but is a major impact guy. Among the state defensive backs he has that cocky swagger that catches your attention while also bringing the game to back it up.
DB Davion Mauldin Cimarron 5'9 150
Cimarron was the biggest surprise team in the state and if you ask any Spartan fan they would credit that to Mauldin. Davion is a fluid athlete with a nose for the ball and amazing versatility showing the ability to make an impact at any position he was placed in. With 8 interceptions on the season, he was second in the state in interceptions.
DB Jordan Arnold Galena 6'2 170
Jordan Arnold was a key player for the surprising Galena Grizzlies as they made a tremendous state title run this season. Arnold is a big rangy player with the instinct and tackling ability to force teams to alter their game plan.
K/P Tom Vikre Reno 6'1 180
Vikre continues Nevada's run on powerful kickers as he provided Reno with a consistent scoring threat and allowed them to maintain field position.
