NevadaPrepReport's 2022 Defensive Back Prospects to Watch

With Southern Nevada high school football players forced to sit out the 2020 season due to Covid-19, many seniors will be facing their first action on the field since their sophomore season. Here is a look ahead to the 2021 season and the seniors projected to shine as recruitable prospects among the defensive backs.

Cornerbacks

A commit to USC, Ross is a well built corner with great ball skills, smooth feet and outstanding speed on the edge. He is rated among the top corners in the nation.

Young has added height and bulk since his last snaps in 2019 as a standout sophomore. He is another player with great ball skills that displayed great feet and acceleration which should make him a go-to player as a senior. He holds an offer from Bemidji State.

Beasley is a speedy athlete that will be suiting up for the Jaguars after originally starting his high school career at Green Valley. He has great speed on the edge and is a well coached player that should have a standout season.

A two-way standout that could develop on either side of the ball, Pate is a confident and athletic playmaker with great length as well as leaping skills. He holds an early Northern Arizona offer & has moved from Valley HS to Legacy HS this season.

Bishop Gorman is loaded this season with Ross and Justyn Rhett leading the way at corner along with an impressive group of receivers. Brady doesn’t enter the season with a specified role but he is a speedy player with talent. He currently holds an Northern Arizona offer.

Safety

One of the nation’s elite safeties, Branch has elite leaping ability and outstanding speed that allows him to cover ground quickly. A great tackler with elite ball skills, Branch has his choice of schools to choose from.

Paaoao proved to be a standout in the Patriots defensive backfield as a sophomore showcasing physicality, speed and awareness. Holding an offer from Arizona as well as much of the Mountain West, he is a key prospect to follow.

A transfer from Utah, Alofipo is a strong tackler that should be an immediate impact player for the Liberty Patriots. He is a Utah State commit.

Dyson looks poised for a breakout year as a smooth athlete with great length and the ability to cover ground quickly in the secondary. he doubles as a strong offensive threat as well.

Williams had a solid sophomore season for the Chargers showcasing speed and toughness with impressive tackling skill. He is a prospect to watch that could emerge as a senior.

A strong tackler with great instincts and range in the secondary allows Acklin to be a highly productive defender. He will be among Northern region defensive back prospects to watch.
