NPR 2006 All-Southern Nevada Football Selections

The 2006 regular season has come to a close with big games, big time players and big time performances. This year, the introduction of the Scouting the Game segment with video went well and provided an opportunity to showcase single game highlight video on many of the best players in Southern Nevada. Many came up big on film and some looked like duds but overall, it offered an opportunity to do more than just talk about who are Nevada's best players. With this season's Southern All-Conference team selections, click and download video is being offered for free along with the selections to give fans a preview of how Nevada Prep Report is continuing to take the lead in helping the players in the state of Nevada gain exposure on a national level.
This year Nevada Prep Report will once again be selecting underclass candidates across the state for recommended invites to the StudentSports.com Nike Camps and is looking forward to continuing to work with Phase1Sports.com (Mike Waters) in getting athletes in position to garner attention from college coaches from around the country. Here are your 2006 NevadaPrepReport.com All-Southern Conference selections from Southern Nevada 4A football, the top level in Nevada.

All-Southern Conference
Offensive MVP: RB DeAngelo Jones Foothill 5'10 200 DeAngelo Jones put his 4.5 speed to good use this season as he led the state in rushing touchdowns (31) and an average of 241.2 yards rushing per game. Adding in his total yards from scrimmage, he totaled 265 yards per game this season as he has saved his best season for last. With one or two more games he is also set to become Nevada's all-time leading rusher and currently has 7487 yards with 100 touchdowns on the ground entering round one of the playoffs. Tim Johnson almost took the honors away this season but it is fitting that a Nevada all-time great has walked away with the honors as a senior.
Defensive MVP: DL Billy Winn Las Vegas 6'3 270
Winn leads the state in college offers this season and he is also leading his Wildcat team back to another Sunrise Championship. Winn has been a force on defense with three multisack games this year as he is a player that forces team to change their blocking schemes. He has played every position on the front line this season providing a mismatch in all and for a kid with such a great personality; he is a great representative of all that is good in Nevada high school athletics.
Coach of the Year: Ron Smeltzer Cimarron
Smeltzer and crew marched through the season with an undefeated record in what is arguably Nevada's top division. With a defense that allowed just under four points per game and an offense that pounded team to the tune of 44 points per game, Smeltzer had the on a roll until last weeks surprising playoff loss. Since this team is based on regular season play there is no doubt to which coaching staff stood out above the rest led by Smeltzer.
